The 2025 submission cycle for our TMU Diversity and Inclusion Award has now come to a close, and we’re proud to share this year’s recipient: Jose-Miguel Calle.


Following last year’s shift to a short “Day in the Life” video format, we continued the approach for 2025. Once again, the submissions reminded us of the power of lived experience and storytelling in broadening how architecture is seen, accessed, and understood.


Jose-Miguel’s submission stood out for its honesty and clarity. His video offered a thoughtful window into the daily realities of architecture school, capturing both the challenges and the quiet moments of growth that often go unseen.

These videos extend beyond the award itself. They serve as points of connection for young, aspiring designers and for communities who may not yet see architecture as a viable or welcoming career path.
