2024 - A Day in the Life of an Architecture Student

Updated: Feb 4

For a few years now, my firm has sponsored a diversity and inclusion award at TMU. In the past, the award was merit based and consisted of a BIPOC identifying individual writing a few paragraphs for the awards committee to consider.

This past year, 2024, represented the renewal of the award (the commitment is 5 years, and the award began in 2019). With any sort of renewal comes reflection. Does this award provide the impact that can help fight a systemic problem?

After some deep reflection, we came up with the idea of a short video submission for the award. A "Day in the Life" video, meant to showcase the experience of architecture school. The goal is to provide exposure to any young aspiring architects, and to bring awareness to a borader community and demographic that this is a potential career path available to them.

Enjoy!

Congrats to Duha Ismail for winning the JFA Diversity and Inclusion Award!
